( The direct answer )

What does a video production company in Dubai actually do?

A full-service video production company takes a commercial objective and returns a finished film — handling script, casting, location, permits, crew, direction, shoot, edit, sound, colour and delivery specs. In the UAE, that also means securing filming permits from the relevant emirate authority, which a production company arranges on your behalf. Whether you are comparing video production companies in Dubai or looking for one dedicated video production services partner, this is the full scope you should expect.

Filming permits in the UAE, briefly

Any commercial shoot on public property in Abu Dhabi or Dubai needs a permit — Abu Dhabi through the Creative Media Authority, Dubai through the Dubai Film and TV Commission, and free zones and malls issue their own on top. Lead times run from a few days to a few weeks depending on location and whether drones, road closures or talent visas are involved. Build it into the schedule at the treatment stage, not the week of the shoot. A video production company that quotes you without asking where you want to film has not priced the permit.

Why the treatment matters more than the camera

Clients often ask what camera we shoot on. It is almost never the thing that decides whether a film works. The treatment — the written argument for what the film is, who it talks to and what it wants them to do — is where a project is won or lost. A strong treatment makes the shoot cheaper, because everyone on set already knows what the day is for. A weak one produces a beautiful reel that moves no one.

One team beats three vendors

The common UAE setup is an agency writing the idea, a production house shooting it and a post house finishing it. Every handoff loses intent. We write, shoot, animate and finish in the same building at Yas Creative Hub — our animation team sits alongside the edit suites — which means the person who wrote the line is still in the room when it gets graded — and when a client note lands in week five, it does not restart a procurement cycle.

( What drives the price )

Cost factors, stated plainly

Shoot days

The single largest line. Two well-planned days almost always beat four loose ones.

Crew size

A three-person documentary crew and a full TVC unit with grip, gaffer, art and AD department are different orders of magnitude.

Talent & usage rights

Actor fees are a fraction of the cost; the buyout — territory, media and duration — is what moves the number. A GCC-wide 3-year buyout can exceed the shoot.

Locations & permits

A studio is predictable. A public landmark, a working hospital or a live event site brings permits, security and lost time.

Post complexity

A clean interview edit is days. CGI integration, cleanup, tracking and a full grade are weeks.

Versioning

Arabic and English versions, six social cutdowns and three regional edits are real post hours — scope them at the start, not after the master is approved.

We quote against a written scope rather than a rate card, because an honest number depends on all six factors above. Send a brief and you get a line-itemised quotation, not a range — one reason clients researching video production companies in Dubai come back to us for repeat projects.

Frequently asked

How much does video production cost in Dubai or Abu Dhabi?

There is no honest flat answer, and any company giving you one before reading your brief is quoting a template. Cost is driven by shoot days, crew size, talent buyout, locations, post complexity and how many versions you need. A single-day interview-led corporate film and a multi-location TVC with a cast differ by an order of magnitude. We line-itemise every quote so you can see exactly which of those levers you are paying for and adjust before we start.

How long does a corporate video take from brief to delivery?

Six to eight weeks is realistic for a well-run corporate video production in Dubai: about a week for treatment and script, one to three weeks of pre-production, the shoot itself, then two to four weeks of post depending on graphics and revisions. Event coverage is far faster — we regularly deliver same-day highlight cuts. Genuinely urgent work can be compressed, but the compression comes out of pre-production, which is where risk lives.

Do you handle filming permits in the UAE?

Yes. We arrange permits with the relevant authority for the emirate you are shooting in, plus any venue, free zone or mall approvals layered on top. We factor lead times into the schedule at the treatment stage. If your project involves drones, road closures or minors on camera, tell us early — those carry the longest approval windows.

Can you shoot in Arabic and English?

Yes, and we recommend planning bilingual delivery from the script rather than retrofitting it. Shooting a bilingual presenter, or designing the film to carry voiceover rather than pieces to camera, costs very little at the script stage and saves an entire re-shoot later. We also handle Arabic subtitling, captions and Gulf-versus-Levantine voiceover casting.

Do we own the footage and the final film?

You own the delivered film outright. Raw footage and project files are archived and available to you — we set out ownership and archive terms in the quotation so there is no ambiguity later. Talent and music licences are the exception: those carry their own territory and duration terms, which we state explicitly per project.

Can you work with our existing agency?

Often, yes — we are regularly brought in as the production partner on an agency-authored concept, and we are comfortable in that role. We are equally happy to take the idea from zero. What we will always do is push back on a concept we think will not perform, before the shoot rather than after it.

What is anamorphic 3D content and do we need it?

It is forced-perspective film designed for a specific curved LED screen so that objects appear to break out of the frame when viewed from one particular spot. It is spectacular in the right placement — a landmark screen with a defined viewing position and heavy footfall — and wasted on a flat screen or a scrolling feed. As an anamorphic content company in Dubai, we have produced it for LG and Mubadala Health Plus. The first question we will ask is for the venue’s screen geometry, because the format only works when it is built to that exact canvas.

Where are you based and do you travel?

Our studio is at Yas Creative Hub in Abu Dhabi. We work across Dubai and the wider UAE as standard, offering video production services in Dubai and Abu Dhabi alike. We shoot regularly in Saudi Arabia and travel for projects across the GCC and beyond — travel and per-diem are quoted transparently as separate line items.
